The U.S. Ambassador to Latinia, Ambassador Saverance, has officially resigned and assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of Hickory Resources, a medium-sized oil and gas company based in Oklahoma with operations within Latinia. Hickory is currently engaged in negotations with Esmerelda Energy regarding a possible deal for the Porto Viejo project, which is designed to export liquefied natural gas from Latinia to the U.S.
In a previous post, the Washington Patriot commented on the growing conflicts of interest within the drama unfolding in Latinia. Senator Arnold (R-OK), head of the Senate's Energy Committee, who has significant connections to Hickory recently visited Latinia and had a discussion with key government leaders, including President Hector Sanchez, that is known to have included the Porto Viejo project and the development of Latinia's oil and gas resources. This most recent news regarding former Ambassador Saverance is an even more blatant conflict of interest and reeks of 'behind closed doors' political intrigue with significant financial ramificationsfor those involved.
